About Me

I am a child and adolescent psychotherapeutic counsellor, working with children and young people at different stages of their development. I offer both short- and long-term in-person therapy, depending on what feels right for the young person and their circumstances.

I believe that before we can understand what is troubling a child, we need to take time to understand the child themselves. Every young person brings their own experiences, relationships, personality and way of making sense of the world. I am interested in getting to know these, and in understanding what life feels like from their perspective.

I want therapy to be a place where a child or young person can gradually feel comfortable enough to be themselves. They don't need to arrive knowing what they want to say, or even be certain that therapy is what they want. We can take our time, find a way of working together that feels manageable, and allow the relationship to develop at its own pace.

I believe that therapy works best when it is something we think about together. If something doesn't feel right, there should be space to say so. If a young person isn't sure about something, we can be curious about that too.

My work is informed by psychoanalytic thinking and by the belief that sometimes there is more happening beneath the surface than we can immediately see or put into words. My role is to listen carefully, remain curious and help a young person make sense of their experiences, without judgement or rushing to find an answer.

I hope that, over time, therapy can become a place where a young person feels understood, develops a deeper sense of themselves, and finds ways of managing what life brings.
